CHI: AUDREY MORRIS OPENS NEW CABARET SERIES IN CHICAGO
FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

Ralph Lampkin, Jr. and Lampkin Music Group are excited to bring cabaret to the newly renovated STAGE 773 CABARET ROOM(1225 West Belmont Street, Chicago, IL - 773-327-5252) in a series of Saturday night concerts, concluding with a New Year's Eve performance featuring Chicago favorite Hollis Resnik with musical director Doug Peck. The series opens on Saturday, October 1st at 8:00 pm, featuring Chicago songbird Audrey Morris performing "The Best of the American Songbook". Audrey Morris grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where she studied classical piano as a child. In 1950, Morris began singing and playing at the Capitol Lounge on State Street, and in 1954 moved to the newly-opened Mister Kelly's. She made her first album on the tiny "X" label, a division of RCA, in 1955 Bistro Ballads and the next year, Bethlehem Records signed her to record The Voice of Audrey Morris with arranger Marty Paich. She next performed as leader of the intermission trio at Chicago's London House, a jazz piano club where she shared bills with virtually every great jazz pianist, notably George Shearing and Oscar Peterson, both of whom became lifelong friends and fans. In 1981 performed at Chicago's Palmer House and for over 35 years she played top rooms in Chicago, including the Embers, Yvette's, Toulouse, Maxim's, the Big House and the Whitehall Hotel. Portions of ticket sales will be donated to three non-profit - theGay and Lesbian Hall of FamePride Films and Plays , and Season of Concern. There is an $18 cover.

NYC: MICHAEL FEINSTEIN & LINDA EDER IN "TWO FOR THE ROAD"

FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) will present the first New York joint engagement of the club's founder Michael Feinstein and critically acclaimed vocalist Linda Eder on Tuesdays through Saturdays, September 6th through October 1st. Performances are Tuesdays through Thursdays at 8:30 pm and Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. The two powerhouse performers will share the spotlight in their show "Two For The Road." The evening will feature classics from Harold Arlen, George Gershwin and Sammy Cahn; hits from newer writers like Peter Allen, Joni Mitchell and Michel Legrand; and selections from Michael's upcoming CD The Sinatra Legacy. Music Director Billy Jay Stein will conduct a seven piece band.
Michael Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer dubbed "The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook," is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. Linda Eder has performed for sold-out crowds and venues across the country and throughout Europe. Her concerts have been televised on Bravo and PBS. "Trail Mix," her primetime Animal Planet special, was a natural extension of her love of animals. Linda has performed at many prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Davies Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Wolftrap and the Ravinia Festival. All performances have a $95-$175-$250 cover plus a $40 food/drink minimum.

These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/daughter team in show biz history. David Maiocco as Mort Lindsay will musical direct. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. Cabaret Cares, the award winning series returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Friday, September 30th at 10:00 pm. The evening will kick off the monthly series while also celebrating the Birthday of its creator Joseph Macchia. Entitled DIVAPALOOZA, the show will include an all male cast knocking out some fabulous songs made famous by some great DIVAS. Rosemary started her cabaret career at DON'T TELL MAMA and now is "Making a Return" (NOT a "comeback" as Norma Desmond would say) in a show to will be made up of her original tunes from her 4 CDs and from Spoolie Girl, her new musical. She is joined by John DiPinto on piano, vocals and accordion with Alicia Irving on vocals. Ms. Loar is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the coveted ASCAPlus Award for Popular Music for the past six years. She conceived, directed and starred in the wildly popular The Alternative Torch series at Symphony Space from 2004-2006. As a recording artist, she can be heard on Sting's soundtrack for the movie The Emperor's New Groove, the cast albums of Chess and Sunset Boulevard and on The Listening Library Series. The show highlights the music that has galvanized Broadway audiences from the 1930s right through to the present and it stars Carole J. Bufford ("Broadway by the Year"), Scott Coulter ("The Stephen Schwartz Show") and Christina Bianco (Newsical the Musical). With famed Chicago jazz vocalist Spider Saloff, Ricky created several award winning revues such as "1938", which was recorded on the Kopathetics label, "Porgy & Bess: a Cabaret Concert" and "Ira and Others". Having triumphed these past two years in her Oak Room celebrations of Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hart, beautiful and beguiling Karen Akers returns to THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331) from September 27th through October 29th with her new show "Live, Laugh, Love - Akers Sings Sondheim". Karen sets her sights on the leading musical theater composer-lyricist of the last half century. Among her selections from the Stephen Sondheim Songbook are "More" (Dick Tracy), "Live, Laugh, Love" (Follies), "Send in the Clowns" (A Little Night Music), "Broadway Baby" (Follies), "You Could Drive a Person Crazy (Company), "The Story of Lucy & Jessie" (Follies) and "Moments in the Woods" (Into the Woods). The show is directed by Eric Michael Gillett with Don Rebic as Musical Director. Performances are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:30 pm with late shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 pm. Karen Akers has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Cafe Carlyle, Rainbow & Stars, Hollywood Bowl, Wolf Trap and abroad in France, Russia, London and Barcelona. On Broadway she was one of the original stars of the Tony Award-winning musical, Grand Hotel, and made her Broadway debut in the original production of Nine for which she won a Theatre World Award and Tony nomination. Her current CD, "If We Only Have Love," is a collection of theater songs. Other recordings include "Feels Like Home," "Under Paris Skies" and "Simply Styne." Her film roles include Mike Nichols' Heartburn, Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo and Vibes. There is a $60 cover charge for all shows except the dinner shows Friday and Saturday, when the cover is $65, plus either a $30 minimum or $60 prix fixe dinner.

Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Following 17 sold out shows, THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED for an 18th installment, on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:00 pm. Sondheim Unplugged features an array of Broadway and Cabaret's most dynamic performers, celebrating the work of Broadway's most beloved and prolific composer, accompanied by piano only. Each evening is hosted by Director/Producer Phil Geoffrey Bond (MAC/Bistro/ Nightlife Award Winner). The cast for September 27th includes Farah Alvin, Lisa Asher, Bobby Belfry, Carol J. NYC: DARYL SHERMAN SWINGS NEW YEAR'S EVE/ EVE

Jazz vocalist/pianist Daryl Sherman celebrates "New Year's Eve/Eve" on Tuesday, September 27th (Rosh Hashana on September 28th ushers in 5772) at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788). Sherman is internationally acclaimed for a stellar 14-year run at the Waldorf-Astoria where she played Cole Porter's Steinway. Last June, she headlined the annual Cole Porter Festival in his hometown of Peru, IN. Sherman has performed at The Algonquin's Oak Room, Feinstein's, Rose Hall with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy's Coca Cola and 59E59 Theaters where she was lauded for her band singer role in a centennial tribute to Artie Shaw. As a sparkling mainstay of Manhattan's nightlife, there's hardly jazz joint, supper club, Chinese restaurant or hotel that Daryl has missed. Her many recordings are in regular national rotation on Cable TV's Music Choice and Sirius/XM Radio. She was presented the 2010 MAC Award "Best Major Recording" for her Johnny Mercer Centennial CD - which was used in a Mercer documentary produced by Clint Eastwood. NYC: "LYRICAL LINGUISTS FROM LONDON" AT DON'T TELL MAMA

Ellen Verenieks & Frank Loman "Lyrical Linguists from London" with Michael Ferreri, musical director will perform on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:00 pm & Wednesday, October 5th, at 7:00 pm at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788). Fresh from London's West End, these performers bring you the best of cabaret from both sides of the Atlantic. Verenieks and Loman are treasures of both theater and cabaret in London. English, German and French will be heard here each night. Ellen just finished a glorious run in "Slay It with Music" at the Greenwich Playhouse, London. And Frank recently concluded his solo show "The Songs of Bucchino, Kahr, and Sondheim." This show is like a one-act play, with each song linked to the others, beginning with a duet entitled "It's a Dangerous Cabaret" by noted London-based songwriter and published psychotherapist Brett Kahr. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
